Canasta Quilts includes instructions for making 3 different kinds
of 12.5” (12” finished) square-in-square blocks. The pattern explains how to use all 3 block styles to make quilts in the following 6 sizes:
48" x 48" Baby Quilt
48" x 72" Lap Quilt
72" x 72" Large Lap Quilt
72" x 96" Twin Bed Quilt
96" x 96" Queen Bed Quilt
96" x 120" King Bed Quilt
All 3 block styles have been designed to give the illusion of sashing without the process of actually piecing it between each finished block, making the process of constructing your quilt top that much easier!
Block styles include:
"Natural Canasta" is a more conventionally-pieced square-in-square block made with print and solid fat quarters.
"Wonky Canasta" uses templates to quickly create playful angles. This style can be made with either yardage or precut strips and charm squares.
"Scrappy Canasta" is a scrap quilt with blocks foundation-pieced onto muslin. The muslin foundation makes it easy to use scraps and wonky angles while keeping your piecing sharp.
The pattern includes directions for making a quilt back in each of the 6 sizes, as well as requirements for batting and binding.
This pattern is a pdf file with color photos and piecing diagrams.
